What Is Your Gender?

levlaz:

Aosheng and I went to the Cincinnati Art Museum today. One of my favorite exhibits was Kinship by Ana England. Her work was inspiring, and the way that she combined nature, art, and science was thought provoking.

Being the geek that I am, I filled out the survey at the end of the exhibit. I was so pleasantly surprised when I saw the following question:

Not only was the answer option non-binary, they survey creators took it to a whole new level by allowing you to enter anything you would like in a text box. I really hope this was intentional. It speaks volumes and gives me hope.

I can confirm this was intentional for the purpose of being inclusive. I shared your post with the survey’s creator and she was so delighted that you appreciated it.

Nomadic Deerline Warrior

They come at night, slinking in the shadows while your village dreams. They perch on the rooftops, making silent gestures and plans in the moonlight. At the general’s command, they creep down chimneys and through open windows. With fangs, claws, and antlers, they need no extra weapons to overtake you. They strategize their attacks brilliantly, using their numbers against larger foes and waiting for the perfect moment to attack. By morning, the village is quiet with none of the day’s usual hubbub.  In a beam of sunlight, the general stretches out and yawns on the floor of the house you used to call home.
